Step-by-step instructions :
1 . Invoke Select Member by Member Number using any one (1) of the following methods:
Method 1 : Click the icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Model -- Member ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).
Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Model > Member > Select by Member Number .
Method 3, 4 or 5 : Select Member by Member Number can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .
2 . Any items that you were selected before step 1 are now deselected. A selection dialog opens. On it is a list of members that are referenced by their member number [num] and piecemark. All members are listed except those that are hidden .
|
All members in your 3D model will be shown the first time that this window is opened in a Modeling session. You can " Hide " members or set the " Status Display " to narrow the list. The next time you use this tool in the same Modeling session, the members will continue to be hidden on the list. |
Alternative 1 : Select from the list one or more member numbers that you want, then press the " OK " button.
Alternative 2 : Press the " Cancel " button to end the Select Member by Member Number operation and keep everything as it was before step 1. Do not continue.
Tip: If a member is within the boundaries of your current view ( depth checking doesn't matter), it highlights as your mouse pointer hovers over its listing in the selection dialog. Also, an origin symbol identifies that member's left end .
3 . The members you selected in step 2 that are in your current view are now displayed in the " Primary selection color ." If you selected members that are not in your current view, they will be displayed in the " Primary selection color " when you open a view in which they can be seen.
Tip 1: Look at the selection count if you want to know how many members are selected.
Tip 2: Select + can be used to add to your selection. Use Select- if you want to deselect members.
